About us 

SET Ventures has led investments in digital technology for a carbon-free energy system since 2007 by backing pioneering founders with capital, community and insights. We are proud to be Europe's leading venture capital (VC) investor in the energy domain, having backed category-defining companies such as SonnenInstagrid, Sensorfact and ESFORIN. We have recently raised our 4th fund and are actively investing in the next generation of entrepreneurs defining the energy system of the future.

We are a team of 12 who combine years of experience in tech, entrepreneurship, VC, energy, finance and research. We have colleagues with American, Dutch, German and Swiss roots and we work from our offices in Amsterdam and Hamburg. This role is a great opportunity to join a leading venture fund in ClimateTech and work closely with entrepreneurs and investors that accelerate the transition to a carbon-free energy system.

About the role 

Working at SET Ventures means joining a trusted and high-performance work environment, where no day or week is quite the same. From day 1 you'll get responsibility, find and speak with entrepreneurs and work autonomously on your own projects. As a visiting analyst, you will learn on the job, working closely with the investment team and are always encouraged to participate in team discussions to learn how to form and share your own opinions.

The position is envisioned for 6 months after which there is the potential to move into a full-time position. The starting date of the position is the 1st of September.

As a visiting analyst you will:  

  • Scout promising startups and connect with dozens of ambitious entrepreneurs.

  • Assess investment opportunities by gathering market input, conducting reference calls and evaluating technical and financial aspects.

  • Build relationships with entrepreneurs and other VCs by representing SET in the international startup and investor ecosystem.

  • Support internal operations related to impact assessment, reporting, research, marketing and much more. We welcome you taking initiative to continuously improve how we work and encourage you to take up projects that you are passionate about.

About you

  • High ambition and curiosity to quickly gather knowledge on trends and developments in the energy sector from an industry, start-up and investment perspective.

  • Self-motivated to start own projects, take responsibility, prioritise efficiently and seek support when needed as a solution-focused team player.

  • Outstanding analytical skills, that allow for a data-driven and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to quickly convey the results of your analysis in a structured manner.

  • Ability to prioritize efficiently, whilst juggling a variety of tasks at the same time.

  • Excellent ability to build strong relationships with people of various backgrounds, personalities and perspectives.

Essential

  • Prior professional experience is required, relevant experience can include (side) jobs or internships in entrepreneurship, startups, technology, research, finance or sales.

  • Recently graduated or in final year of degree, likely in engineering, data science business or environmental science.

  • Fluency in English is a must. Dutch not required.

  • Right to work in the Netherlands.

  • This job requires you to work from our office in Amsterdam starting in September 2024 with flexible hours.
